Engine repairs
Check engine lights, overheating, rough running, and the noises you can’t place. We find out what it actually is before anything gets replaced.
We’re a family shop on the corner of Colorado and College View, run by Pong and his son Pete. We work on imports and everything else that pulls in. Bring it by and we’ll take a look.
Open Monday to Saturday
Mon–Sat 8 AM – 6 PM · Sunday closed
“Pong has been my mechanic for 10+ years. All that you need to know is that he is the most honest mechanic you’ll ever work with. My highest recommendation.”
Check engine lights, overheating, rough running, and the noises you can’t place. We find out what it actually is before anything gets replaced.
Pads, rotors, lines and the squeal that started last week. If the pads have life left in them, we’ll show you and leave them alone.
Oil and filters, plugs, belts, fluids and the mileage services. The ordinary work that keeps an older car on the road for years.
Recharges, leaks and blowers, before the first heat wave rather than during it.
Starters, alternators, batteries, sensors and the wiring faults other shops hand back.
Imports are in our name and they are most of what comes through the bay. Domestics and trucks get the same look.
We look at it first, then tell you what we found.Bring it in, leave us a number, and go about your day.
If it doesn’t need fixing, we say so.Plenty of cars come in here and go home the same way.
We explain the problem in plain words. You should understand your own car before you pay to fix it.
Pong and his son Pete work on the cars themselves. The person who looked at it is the person who fixes it.
Prices depend on the car and on what it turns out to need.
Call us, or bring it by, and we’ll give you a number.
I came here and they said that my car was fine. 5 stars for honesty.
I own and run a bmw and mini cooper specialty shop and when I have customers who ask me if I can recommend a mechanic who works on other makes, I always recommend Pong at Eagle Rock Imports. He is an Eagle Rock fixture and Ive known him for years.
Pong always looks for a cost effective solution first. I once had a check engine light that signaled a code for a problem with the pistons. Instead of immediately replacing, he made sure that it was an actual issue rather than a buggy sensor. Luckily, it was just a confused sensor that was adjusted so he didn’t charge me.
They fix the issue and don’t try to sell you other things that aren’t needed. I’ve been coming to Pong for over 20yrs and he has always done me right.
Pong and his team are top notch. They assess the problems and solve the situation clearly, effectively and honestly. They involve you in the situation, explain the problem, and suggest resolutions that you can understand and appreciate.
You can’ beat their prices and most of all very trustworthy. I said “very trustworthy” twice because it’s worth mentioning twice.
Pong has been fixing cars on this corner of Colorado Blvd long enough that people who came here years ago now send their grown children in. His son Pete works alongside him.
We take on engines, brakes, electrical faults and the jobs other shops hand back, on whatever pulls into the driveway that morning.
It is a small shop and a busy one. We are not going to sell you a repair to fill a slow afternoon, because we do not have slow afternoons.
We are on the corner of Colorado Blvd and College View Ave, and the driveway is on the College View side rather than on Colorado. Look for the white sign on the bracket with the red arrow. It is easy to drive past the first time.
Call first and we’ll tell you what the day looks like. People do drop in, and we do what we can, but a car left with us in the morning gets looked at sooner than a car that arrives at four.
It depends on the job and on how many cars are already on the lifts. Small jobs often go home the same day. Bigger ones we will tell you about once we have looked.
On the street. The lot is small and it fills with cars waiting on work, so spaces are tight. Leave the keys with us and we’ll move it around as bays open up.
Not really. This is a working garage, not a lounge. Eagle Rock Plaza is a short walk if you want a coffee, and most people leave the car and come back.
Imports are in our name and they are most of what comes through. Domestics, trucks and older cars are welcome too, and a lot of what we see has well over a hundred thousand miles on it.
Tell us what the car is doing. We’ll take a look before anyone talks about parts.
